The men's standing triple jump at the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris was decided on July 16, 1900 in the Croix Catelan . The rule stipulated that jumping could only be started once. In the triple jump, a foot was only allowed to leave the ground once after each jump; if the foot, which was completely lifted off the ground, was put down a second time in between, this was considered a failed attempt.
As in the standing vault, there was a US triple success and as in the other two standing jumping disciplines, high and long jump, Ray Ewry won ahead of Irving Baxter , who had won gold in the high and pole vault . Third place went to Robert Garrett , double Olympic champion in the shot put and discus throw from 1896 and third shot put here in Paris .

Jumps from a standing position were very popular at the time and were often carried out without any binding rules. In the triple jump, one foot was only allowed to leave the ground once after each jump.
All three jumping disciplines took place on the same day. So Ewry became three times Olympic champion in one day, an unmatched record.
For this standing jump competition, only the first three are named at Ekkehard zur Megede . They match the jumpers listed here. There is a small difference in the distance for the runner-up. Instead of 9.95 m, the Megede leads to 9.93 m.
The triple standing jump runner-up Irving Baxter, at the same time double Olympic champion in the high and pole vault
The American triple jump and standing vault third Lewis Sheldon is Olympic champion
The Swedish athlete Karl Gustaf Staaf ( top row left ), participant in standing triple jump, triple jump , pole vault and hammer throw
The Olympic champion over 100 meters Frank Jarvis - also as a standing rice jumper and triple jumper in Paris
