At the XI. During the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin , four water jumping competitions were held, two each for women and men. The venue was the Olympic swimming stadium on the " Reichssportfeld " in the Charlottenburg district . A maximum of three participants were allowed per participating nation.

The competition was held at 8:00 a.m. in the 20 × 20 meter diving pool of the swimming stadium. Five compulsory and five freestyle jumps had to be shown. The compulsory jumps were a forward somersault, a head jump backwards from a standing position, an Auerbach jump with a run-up, a forward somersault, backwards from a standstill and half a drill forward with a run-up. The freestyle was chosen from the jump table with 24 jumps in five groups. The greatest difficulty level of 2.3 included a one and a half Auerbach somersault or one and a half somersault forward with a full twist, each with a run-up. The Peruvian Calderon did not perform all the required jumps, which is why he was placed in last place. All three medals went to athletes from the United States who held a show jumping competition on August 16.

The competition was held on August 14th from 8:30 am and on August 15th from 10:00 am. The venue was the 20 × 20 meter diving pool of the swimming stadium. Four compulsory and four freestyle jumps from the 10-meter tower had to be shown. The compulsory jumps were a head jump forwards from standing, a head jump with a run-up, a back somersault from standing and an Auerbach jump from standing. The greatest degree of difficulty of 2.3 in the freestyle jumps was the double backward from standing and the one and a half Auerbach somersault with a run-up or flying.

The competition began at 8:00 a.m., the venue was the 20 × 20 meter diving pool of the swimming stadium. Three compulsory and four freestyle jumps from the 3 meter board had to be shown. The compulsory jumps were a forward somersault with a run-up, a head jump backwards from a standing position and an Auerbach jump with a run-up. In the jumping table for the freestyle there were 14 jumps, of which the Auerbach somersault with a run-up and the one and a half somersault forwards, backwards, pike or crouched with the highest degree of difficulty of 2.0. All three medals went to athletes from the United States. Marjorie Gestring became the youngest ever Olympic champion at the age of 13 years and 266 days.

The compulsory jumps were a forward head jump with a run-up (5 meters), a forward head jump from a standing position (10 meters), a forward head jump with a run-up (10 meters) and a back somersault from a standing position (5 meters).
