The men's 100 meter freestyle swimming competition at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona was held on July 28th. The Russian Alexander Popov , who competed for the United Team , became Olympic champion. Silver went to the Brazilian Gustavo Borges and bronze, like in the previous games, went to Stéphan Caron from France.
