The Czechoslovakia took part in the VII. Winter Olympic Games in 1956 in the Italian municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo with a delegation of 41 athletes in seven disciplines in part, of which 35 men and 6 women. No athlete managed to win a medal.

The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the ice hockey player Vlastimil Bubník .
