Omar Ennaffati ( Hungarian Ennaffati Omar ; born April 26, 1980 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian - Hungarian ice hockey player who has been playing for the Dundas Real McCoys from Hamilton in Ontario since 2010 .
Career
Omar Ennaffati was born in Toronto , Canada, the son of a Moroccan and a Hungarian . He began his career with the North Bay Centennials from the Ontario Hockey League , which had selected him in the 1997 OHL Priority Selection in the fifth round as the 75th player. In 1999 he moved to league rivals Mississauga Ice Dogs where he stayed until 2001, but he also played some games for Greenville Grrrowl from the East Coast Hockey League . He spent the 2001/02 season with New Orleans Brass also in the ECHL. When this was dissolved shortly after the beginning of the following season in 2002, he took up studies at Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish and joined the university team there, the St. Francis Xavier X-Men , for which he played at Atlantic University until 2005 , one of the three Canadian Interuniversity Sports ice hockey conferences . He was elected to the Second All-Star Team in 2004 and to the Conference's First All-Star Team in 2005. In 2005 he was able to win the University Cup with the X-Men against the UNB Varsity Reds from New Brunswick , after the final had already been reached two years earlier, but that was lost to the UQTR Patriotes from Québec .
After this success he played a few more games for the Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL. He then moved to his mother's homeland and joined Alba Volán Székesfehérvár . With Alba Volán he played two years in both the Hungarian league and the Interliga . While the Interliga was won in 2007, he became Hungarian champions in both 2006 and 2007 . After his time in Székesfehérvár he played one year each in Great Britain and France before he returned to Hungary and stood in Budapest for half a year for Ferencvárosi TC and the Budapest Stars , with whom he won the MOL League in 2010 .
Ennaffati has been back in Canada since 2010, where he is under contract with Dundas RealMcCoys, with whom he has won three amateur leagues (2011, 2012, 2015).
International
Ennaffati played for Hungary in the World Championships in Division I in 2008 and 2010 and in the World Cup in the Top Division in 2009 , when the Hungarians competed in the top division for the first time in 70 years.
