Omar Ruben Larrosa (* 18th November 1947 in Lanús ) is a former Argentine football player with the national team of his native country at the 1978 FIFA World Cup took part and it won the title.

Career

Club career

Omar Larrosa began his football career with the Boca Juniors in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires . After only a few games at Boca, Larrosa, who came from Lanús, a city in the province of Buenos Aires , left the club and joined the Argentinos Juniors , also from the capital. After a year with the Argentinos Juniors, he returned to his old club in 1970. With the Boca Juniors Omar Larrosa won his first championship in Argentina in 1970 , but he was not used in the final of the national competition against Rosario Central . After this season, Larrosa moved to Guatemala to CSD Comunicaciones , from where he returned to Buenos Aires after another year and from then on played for CA Huracán . In his second season with Huracán, where he played together with Alfio Basile and Miguel Brindisi , among others , Larrosa won his second Argentine football championship, winning the Metropolitan competition in 1973 is the only CA Huracán title to this day. Overall, Omar Larrosa stayed with Huracán until 1976 before joining CA Independiente from Avellaneda , an industrial suburb of Buenos Aires. With Independiente, which was one of the best teams in South America at the time, Larrosa won a total of two titles. In 1977 he was on the side of players like Ricardo Bochini , Enzo Trossero or Daniel Bertoni master in the Nacional before CA Talleres de Córdoba , 1978 you won this competition again, this time before CA River Plate . National team

In the Argentine national soccer team , Omar Larrosa completed eleven international matches between 1977 and 1978. Argentina's national coach César Luis Menotti nominated him for the South American squad for the 1978 World Cup in his own country. In a team with world stars like Mario Kempes , Daniel Passarella and Osvaldo Ardiles , Larrosa had more of the role of a reservist. He was only used in two games. His first game at the tournament was the 6-0 win against Peru in the second round, where he was on the field for the entire season. He was used for the second time in the final against the Netherlands at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires. In the 65th minute he was substituted on for Argentina when the score was 1-0 for Ardiles. In the end, the Argentines won 3-1 after extra time after Dick Nanninga had equalized the lead by Kempes in the 82nd minute. In extra time, Kempes and Daniel Bertoni ensured the hosts win again, making them world champions for the first time.
