Open Your Box is Yoko Ono's second standalone remix album . At the same time, including the three avant-garde albums as well as Some Time in New York City , Double Fantasy , Milk and Honey and two interview albums with her husband John Lennon , two compilation albums and the live album by the Plastic Ono Band, it is Yoko Ono's twenty-third album. It was released in the United States on April 3, 2007.

History of origin

In 1980, Yoko Ono and John Lennon planned to release a Yoko-Ono EP called Yoko Only , which would contain the following tracks: Walking on Thin Ice and remixes of Open Your Box , Kiss Kiss Kiss and Every Man Has a Woman Who Loves Him . This project was no longer implemented in this form.

From 2001, remixers, such as the Pet Shop Boys , Orange Factory, Peter Rauhofer, and Danny Tenaglia, remixed various songs by Yoko Ono, making sure that the remixes were "danceable" and used in discos can. During the mixes, the original instrumentation was often supplemented or even replaced by new instrumentation. The name Yoko Ono was shortened to ONO. The following singles were released up to 2007:

  1. 2001: Open Your Box
  2. 2002: Kiss Kiss Kiss
  3. 2002: Yang Yang
  4. 2003: Walking on Thin Ice
  5. 2003: Will I / Fly
  6. 2004: Hell in Paradise
  7. 2004: Everyman ... Everywoman ...

In April 2003, the remix of Walking on Thin Ice reached number one on Billboard's Dance / Club Play charts in the United States. By 2014, ten more number one hits and five top ten hits followed in these charts. The principle was retained for Open Your Box . The remixers listed under the track list used the vocals of Yoko Ono and produced some or all of the music. The seven singles listed above are also on the CD, so that the album can also be described as a compilation album. Again, only the name ONO was mentioned on the cover of the CD . Another remix album, Yes, I'm a Witch , was released two months earlier, in February 2007. This album also contains ballads or pop-oriented songs and not just dance remixes. The single You're the One was released from the album . The following remix singles No, No, No (2007) and Give Peace a Chance (2008) are not or in a different version on the album. Another compilation album, which contains remixes by Yoko Ono, is entitled Onomix and was released on September 18, 2012 in download format only .
