Walking on Thin Ice - Compilation is the second compilation album of Yoko Ono . At the same time, including the three avant-garde albums as well as Some Time in New York City , Double Fantasy , Milk and Honey and two interview albums with her husband John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band's live album, it is the nineteenth album of Yoko Onos. It was released in the United States on March 20, 1992.
History of origin
The album Walking on Thin Ice - Compilation is a kind of "best of" album, which includes the musical work of Yoko Ono between the years 1971 ( Fly ) and 1985 ( Starpeace ). Only commercial songs by Yoko Ono were selected for the album, so avant-garde music was dispensed with. The songs on the album had previously only appeared on the Onobox as a CD version, with the exception of those from the albums Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey . It wasn't until five years later, in 1997, that Yoko Ono's albums were released on CD on Rykodisc Records .
The CD booklet includes commentary on Yoko Ono's music by Ringo Starr , David Bowie , Roberta Flack , Nile Rodgers , Eric Clapton, and other artists.
In the list Women Who Rock: The 50 Greatest Albums of All Time by the music magazine Rolling Stone , the album ranks 40 out of 50.
