History of origin

Since their last solo studio album Between My Head and the Sky from 2009, Yoko Ono and the Plastic Ono Band released an EP with the Flaming Lips in 2011 with the following songs: The Fear Litany , Do It! , Brain Of Heaven and Atlas Eets Christmas .

In 2013, when Yoko Ono turned 80, the album Take Me to the Land of Hell was released , which, in contrast to the previous album YOKOKIMTHURSTON, was again more musically commercial, whereby the album also contains experimental music. Again, the instrumentation is kept simple , as in the three previous studio albums Between My Head and the Sky (2009), Blueprint for a Sunrise (2001) and Rising (1995). Yoko Ono's son, Sean Lennon , also played a leading role in the creation of the album, playing several instruments on the recordings and was co-producer.

The members of the Plastic Ono Band, who also played on the previous album Between My Head and the Sky , were Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon: Yuka Honda, Keigo "Cornelius" Oyamada, Hirotaka "Shimmy" Shimizu, Yuku Araki, Shahzad Ismaily, Michael Leonhart and Erik Friedlander. Lenny Kravitz played drums and clavinet on the anti-war song Cheshire Cat Cry . The song Tabetai is a joint recording with tUnE-yArDs . The recording dates of the album are not documented.

Like the previous studio albums Between My Head and the Sky and YOKOKIMTHURSTON , the album was released on the Chimera Music label. The album Take Me to the Land of Hell was also released as a vinyl long-playing record. The CD comes with a 16-page booklet that contains photos of Yoko Ono as well as the lyrics of the songs.
