Warzone -

Warzone is the thirteenth solo studio album by Yoko Ono . At the same time it is including the three avant-garde albums as well as Some Time in New York City , Double Fantasy , Milk and Honey , two interview albums with her husband John Lennon , two compilation albums , the live album of the Plastic Ono Band and the studio album with Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore and the remix albums of Yoko Ono's thirtieth album. It was released on October 19, 2018.

History of origin

In 2018, when Yoko Ono turned 85, the album Warzone was released , which, unlike the previous album Take Me to the Land of Hell, is not an album by the Plastic Ono Band . Again, as with the four previous studio albums Take Me to the Land of Hell (2016), Between My Head and the Sky (2009), Blueprint for a Sunrise (2001) and Rising (1995) , the instrumentation is kept simple.

Yoko Ono describes the motivation behind the album as follows: “We can either fight and kill or shake hands and make a beautiful world together… ..Which would you like?” She is convinced that violence in the world is increasing and that people live in a "war zone".

From the previous album, the musicians Erik Friedlander, Douglas Wieselman and Thomas Bartlett were taken over, the latter took over most of the instrumentation and produced the album. The songs are new recordings of Yoko Ono songs: Why: Yoko Ono / Plastic Ono Band (1970) , Now Or Never : Approximately Infinite Universe (1973) Woman Power: Feeling the Space (1973) , Hell In Paradise , I Love All Of Me , Children Power , It's Gonna Rain and I Love You Earth : Starpeace (1985) , Warzone and Where Do We Go From Here : Rising (1995) , I'm Alive : Blueprint for a Sunrise (2001) .

According to the CD booklet, the song Teddy Bear was written in 1985, but is not included on the 1985 album Starpeace . Since 2017, Yoko Ono has been featured as a co-composer on the song Imagine . The recording dates of the album are not documented. Like the previous studio albums Between My Head and the Sky , YOKOKIMTHURSTON and Take Me to the Land of Hell , the album was released on the Chimera Music label and was also released as a vinyl long-playing record.

Animated music videos were made for the songs on the album.

Cover

The cover design was done by Yoko Ono and David Correll. The drawings on the cover are by Yoko Ono. The CD is accompanied by a 16-page booklet that contains photos and drawings by Yoko Ono as well as the lyrics of the songs. The booklet also includes a 1972 drawing by John Lennon and a written treatise by Ono entitled The Feminization of Society , which was first published in 1972.
