It's Alright (I See Rainbows) is the seventh solo studio album by Yoko Ono . At the same time, including the three avant-garde albums as well as Some Time in New York City and Double Fantasy with her husband John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band's live album, it is Yoko Ono's thirteenth album. It was released on December 16, 1982 in the UK and on November 29, 1982 in the US.

History of origin

The follow-up album to Season of Glass was recorded again in the "Hit Factory" studios, but this time Yoko Ono was the sole producer, and the musicians from the previous album were not hired again. The recordings were probably made in August / September 1982.

After disagreements with David Geffen , Yoko Ono switched to Polydor on October 3, 1982 , so It's Alright (I See Rainbows) and in 1984 Milk and Honey , as well as the Yoko Ono follow-up album Starpeace , were released on this label.

The album was musically commercially oriented and became Yoko Ono's second most successful album after the previous album Season of Glass . The songs My Man and Never Say Goodbye allude to John Lennon, while Lennon can be heard screaming the name Yoko on the latter. Loneliness and Tomorrow May Never Come were first recorded for the album A Story in 1974 and re-recorded here for the album.

In the booklet of the Onobox , Yoko Ono mentions that she found the making of the album It's Alright (I See Rainbows) difficult, as she was now trying to lead a normal life after the death of John Lennon and she continued to try a new sound during to develop the recordings.

The other recorded but unused song Forgive Me, My Love appeared on the Onobox in 1992 .

Cover

The cover design was done by Yoko Ono as well as Bill Levy and Bob Heimall. The cover photo is by Bob Gruen and Nishi F. Saimaru. On the back of the cover you can see Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon as well as John Lennon in Central Park in New York City , while the CD re-release does not show John Lennon on the back cover.
