Origins Vol. 1 is a fifth solo album released on April 15, 2016 by the American guitarist Ace Frehley .

With Origins Vol. 1 , the former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley recorded an album that consisted exclusively of cover versions . Nevertheless contains 1 Origins Vol. With Parasite and Cold Gin two songs, had written the Frehley on guitar by Kiss in the 1970s itself. The vocals for the recordings of the original versions, however, had Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley taken over. Technically, these recordings of your own songs on Origins Vol. 1 are therefore cover versions.

Frehley recorded the remaining songs because they had shaped him in his youth. These included titles from Led Zeppelin , the Rolling Stones and The Kinks . In addition to the musicians from Frehley's current band, guest musicians also worked on the recordings: guitarist John 5 supported Frehley on Parasite and Jimi Hendrix's Spanish Castle Magic, Lita Ford recorded Wild Thing with him , Slash helped on Emerald from Thin Lizzy . Mike McCready ( Pearl Jam ) played on the Kiss song Cold Gin , and Frehley's former bandmate Paul Stanley sang Fire and Water from Free .

The song White Room, which was first recorded by Cream, was released as its first single on February 12, 2016 . Fire And Water was made available to the public on April 14, 2016 via SoundCloud ; the music magazine Rolling Stone reported that the song was the first joint recording by Paul Stanley and Ace Frehley in 18 years. The two musicians also recorded a music video for the song, which was released on April 27, 2016, Frehley's birthday.

The album debuted at number 23 on the US album charts on May 7, 2016 and slipped to number 197 in the second week. Rocks wrote that with the exception of "the lame Wild Thing version", the album was "entertaining and well suited to bridge the gap until the next full-fledged solo album".
