Otto Arosemena Gómez (born July 19, 1925 in Guayaquil , † April 20, 1984 in Salinas ) was an Ecuadorian politician and lawyer and from November 16, 1966 to August 31, 1968 president of his country.

He graduated from Guayaquil University with a doctorate in law and then became a lawyer. In 1957 he was President of Parliament and from 1960 a Senator. He founded the Coalición Institucionalista Republicana party , for which he entered parliament and Clemente Yerovi followed as president.

The 1968 elections were won by José María Velasco Ibarra , who in turn was overthrown by a military coup. It was not until 1979 that Ecuador returned to democracy. In the same year Arosemena moved back into parliament. In 1980 he shot an opposing parliamentarian in the calf and spent three months in prison as a result of a conviction. Was then a member of parliament again. He died of a heart attack in the seaside resort of Salinas in 1984.
