Clemente Yerovi
Clemente Yerovi Indaburu (born August 10, 1904 in Barcelona , † July 19, 1981 in Guayaquil ) was an Ecuadorian politician and from March 30 to November 16, 1966 president of his country.
From 1936 to 1956 he was president of a number of private and state banks in Ecuador. 1948–1950 he was Minister of Economic Affairs in the Galo Plaza cabinet . 1951–1955 he was a senator. After the abdication of the military junta in 1966, he became president of Ecuador on an interim basis as a non-party president and as such prepared a constituent assembly and new elections. He also reinstated civil rights and the right to strike and assemble, and released all political prisoners from custody.
From 1974 to 1976 Yerovi represented his country as ambassador to the Holy See .
