Patrick Galbraith (born March 11, 1986 in Haderslev ) is a Danish ice hockey goalkeeper who was last under contract with the Krefeld Penguins in the German Ice Hockey League between December 2015 and March 2017 . His father George was also a professional ice hockey player.

Player career

Patrick Galbraith began his career as a professional ice hockey player at IK Sønderjylland , for whom he made his debut in the 2003/04 season in the AL-Bank Ligaen . The club was then taken over by the Sønderjysk Elitesport sports club and the ice hockey department was renamed SønderjyskE Ishockey. With this he became Danish champion for the first time in his career in 2006 . Before the 2006/07 season Galbraith signed a contract in the Eastern Junior Hockey League with the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs, which he left after only one year for Denmark, where he again signed with SønderjyskE Ishockey. In the following two years he reached third place in the Danish championship (2008) and his second Danish championship title (2009).

In May 2009 Galbraith was committed by IF Björklöven from the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan , for which he was in goal in 43 games and scored an average of 2.53. In June 2010 he moved within the Allsvenskan to Leksands IF , for which he had a goal average of 2.27 per game and a catch rate of 91.8 percent in the main round in 43 games in the 2010/11 season. In August 2011 he received a trial contract with Adler Mannheim , for which he played two games in the European Trophy . He then received no contract for the entire season and moved in September 2011 to HC Slovan Bratislava from the Slovak extra league . There he was able to convince with strong performances, whereupon he was obliged after just seven games in December 2011 by the Espoo Blues from the Finnish SM-liiga .

In the summer of 2012 he returned to Sweden and initially joined the Frölunda HC from the elite series before he was loaned to the second division IK Oskarshamn in November 2012 after only five games . Then Galbraith was in goal for Karlskrona HK for three years and rose with the team to the Svenska Hockeyligan for the 2015/16 season . In December 2015, the Dane was signed by the Krefeld Penguins from the German Ice Hockey League to replace the injured Tomáš Duba .

International

For Denmark , Galbraith only took part in the U20 Junior B World Championship in the junior division in 2006 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the A World Championships in 2006 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 and 2012 . Especially at the 2010 World Cup, where he conceded an average of 2.01 goals per game in five games and a catch rate of 93.5 percent, he was able to convince and was voted one of Denmark's three best players at the World Cup.
