Paul Hauptmann

Paul Hauptmann (born April 28, 1967 in Vienna ) is an Austrian director and producer in the music film sector. Specializing in the recording of live concerts, Hauptmann has worked for artists such as David Bowie , Coldplay and the Red Hot Chili Peppers .

Career

After training as an editor and assistant director in the youth editorial team of ORF , Hauptmann joined the first German music broadcaster VIVA in 1993 . As the director and producer of the Night Department, he oversaw genre programs and magazines in various musical styles. With the successful format "Overdrive" developed by him, Hauptmann has concentrated since 1998 on directing live music recordings. As a result, he also made a name for himself outside of the station's own television productions as a live director. At David Bowie's request , Hauptmann performed both the concert recording of the Berlin show as part of the “HEATHEN” tour (2002), his live clip for the title “Fashion” (2003) for the Fashion Rocks event in London, and the DVD “A Reality Tour ”(2003) directed. About it he is u. a. the director of the gold- and platinum-refined DVDs of German acts such as Xavier Naidoo , Nena or Udo Lindenberg . In 2004 Paul Hauptmann founded the film production company FESCHFILM ENTERTAINMENT. The company specializes in multiple camera recordings and documentation in the entertainment sector, e.g. B. Live streaming, TV and DVD evaluations of shows, branded events and concerts. From 2004 to 2009 Hauptmann directed the Electronic Beats festivals with artists such as The Prodigy , Faithless and Underworld . From 2007 to 2012 he was the director of the " Telekom Street Gigs " with bands such as Billy Talent , Phoenix , Mando Diao and Die Fantastischen Vier . In 2014–2018, Hauptmann produced the live streams for the main stages from splash! and melt! Festival in Graefenhainichen and, in addition to his role as producer, also directed acts such as Wiz Khalifa , Florence and the Machine , The xx , Tame Impala and Deichkind . As part of the German premiere of the Lollapalooza Festival in Berlin in 2015 as well as 2016 and 2017, Hauptmann was responsible for the production of the live stream for arte concerts and the direction of bands such as Muse , Seeed , Radiohead , Kings of Leon , Foo Fighters and many more
