Paul Theile (born February 25, 1919 in Groß Salze ; † June 4, 2006 in Hanover ) was a German local historian , school principal , local researcher and author of several writings on the history of Kronsberg and the (today's) Hanoverian district of Bemerode .

Born in Groß Salze at the beginning of the Weimar Republic in the Prussian province of Saxony , Paul Theile experienced the beginning of National Socialism as a schoolboy . During this time, after graduating from school, he completed an apprenticeship as a teacher and was already teaching at short notice as a teenager "in the Salzgitter area ". After the Wehrmacht started World War II in Europe with the attack on Poland in 1939 , the young teacher became a soldier . As part of the air intelligence force , he came to the "Bemerode camp" in 1940, where he completed several courses to train as an officer . In the same year of the war Paul Theile began to collect newspaper articles about the area and to take his own photographs of the landscape until he was transferred from Bemerode in March 1941. By the end of the war at the latest, he was taken prisoner of war .

More than a quarter century after his first stay in Bemerode came Paul parts back to the place back when he in April 1966 as rector of the Mittelpunktschule Bemerode was appointed.
