Paul Vollmar

Paul Vollmar SM (born October 11, 1934 in Überlingen on Lake Constance ) is a German religious , Roman Catholic theologian and auxiliary bishop emeritus in the Diocese of Chur .

Life

Paul Vollmar joined the religious community of Marianists in 1951 and made his profession in 1959 . He studied philosophy and catholic theology in Freiburg i. Ü. and was ordained a priest on March 14, 1964 by Bishop François Charrière in Freiburg im Üechtland . In 1967 he was in Freiburg with a thesis on Ignaz Heinrich von Wessenberg to Dr. theol. PhD . From 1968 to 1993 he worked as a religion teacher, rector and provincial of the Swiss Marianists.

On 4 March 1993 it appointed Pope John Paul II. To the titular of MissUA and ordered him together with Peter Henrici SJ to auxiliary bishop in Chur . He received his episcopal ordination from the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops , Bernardin Gantin , on May 31, 1993; Co- consecrators were the bishop of Lausanne, Geneva and Friborg , Pierre Mamie , and the bishop of Chur, Wolfgang Haas . His episcopal motto is "Do what He tells you to do!"

From 1993 he was Vicar General for the cantons of Graubünden and Glarus as well as for the Principality of Liechtenstein ; from 1998 for Schwyz , Uri , Obwalden and Nidwalden . From 2003 to 2009 he was vicar general for the cantons of Zurich and Glarus. Vollmar is particularly committed to ecumenical dialogue with other religious communities such as the Reformed regional church.

On October 15, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement; likewise ended his tenure as vicar general.
