The Penkensee is a small lake in the Carinthian Keutschacher Seental south of the Wörthersee .

The Penkensee is located in a shallow depression on the north side of the Sattnitz train . It is located at 620 m above sea level. It is a pond-like, shallow body of water with an area of 5.16 hectares; only a quarter of it is open water, the majority is covered with reeds and rushes.

The lake water is brownish due to the humic acids from the surrounding moored silting areas. It has a low phosphorus content (10 mg / m³). As a result, the lake has a low phytoplankton content .

The Penkensee is fed by a small meadow stream and groundwater. The outflow is through a small stream to the north, which flows into the Hafnersee .

The lake is located in the conservation area Keutschacher Lake Valley and in the field of market town of Schiefling am Wörthersee .
