history

Small tools from the Middle Stone Age were found in the area of the village of Pesch . The remains of the settlement date from the Roman period and were found in three places. In 1263 the Pesch family came to Myllendonk. Around 1350 the place came by inheritance to the Lords of Horst . In the following years there was a dispute between Herr von Horst and the Cologne elector because of the manorial power of Pesch , to whose Dingstuhl Kleinenbroich the town of Pesch also belonged. For this reason, Pesch had two community leaders in 1664. In the French period, from 1794, the area around Pesch was initially further divided. The part that formerly belonged to the Myllendonk rule belonged to the Mairie Korschenbroich, the former part of the Horst in the Electorate of Cologne became part of the Mairie Schelsen, smaller areas became part of Kleinenbroich and Liedberg . It was not until 1864 that the areas could be united when the municipality of Pesch was founded. At that time the new municipality belonged to the Gladbach district . This became a separate municipality in the mayor's office of Korschenbroich . In 1929 the municipality of Pesch came to the new district of Grevenbroich-Neuss . After the municipal territorial reform in North Rhine-Westphalia, Pesch became part of the newly formed municipality of Korschenbroich in the Neuss district on January 1, 1975. Korschenbroich was promoted to town on January 1, 1981.
