Pete Zimmer (born September 18, 1977 in Waukesha , Wisconsin ) is an American jazz musician ( drummer , band leader ), composer and music teacher . For parts of the criticism he is considered "a contemporary version of an Art Blakey ."

Live and act

Zimmer first studied at Northern Illinois University and then did his bachelor's degree at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. In 2001 he moved to the New York borough of Queens , where he worked as a professional musician with his Boston mentor George Garzone , as well as with musicians such as Joel Frahm , Jeremy Pelt , Michael Rodríguez , David Wong , Dennis Irwin , Randy Napoleon , Gene Perla , Tom Kennedy , Wayne Escoffery , Jaleel Shaw . On his own label Tippin 'Records he released a number of albums with his own compositions from 2004 onwards. Zimmer has taught at Indiana University , Ohio State University , Northern Illinois University, University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Currently (2019) Zimmer leads a quintet that includes Stacy Dillard , Peter Bernstein , Miki Yamanaka (piano) and Yasushi Nakamura .
