Peter Mikuláš

Peter Mikuláš (born January 23, 1954 in Nitra ) is a Slovak opera and concert singer with a bass voice and singing teacher who has been a member of the Slovak National Theater in Bratislava since 1978 .

Life

Peter Mikuláš studied singing as a pupil of Viktoria Stracvenská at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava . In 1977 he won the Antonín Dvořák singing competition in Karlovy Vary , as well as other singing competitions in 1982 in Moscow and 1984 in Helsinki .

In 1978 he made his debut as Colline in La Bohème at the Slovak National Theater in Bratislava, where he is still often active as a singer (status: 2019/20 season).

In the 2006/07 season he was director of the Slovak National Theater and took part in the complex organizational preparations for the opera in the new opera house, which opened on April 14, 2007.

Guest engagements lead and led him u. a. to Prague , New York , Vienna , Barcelona , Rome , Berlin , Madrid , Dresden , Salzburg , Leipzig and Amsterdam . On July 30, 2018 he made his debut at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich as Alexandr Petrovič Goryančikov in Janáček's From a House of the Dead .

His concert repertoire includes both classical works (including by Johann Sebastian Bach , Ludwig van Beethoven , Johannes Brahms , Antonín Dvořák and Giuseppe Verdi ) as well as a large number of works from the 20th century , including by Slovak composers. In 1986 he made his debut at the Slovak Philharmonic in Bratislava.

Since 2011, Peter Mikuláš has been professor of singing at the University of Musical Arts in Bratislava.
