Petra Papp (born August 22, 1993 in Hungary ) is a Hungarian chess player . Since April 2012 she has held the title of Grand Master of Women (WGM).

Life

Petra Papp was a student of the Central Chess School (Hungarian: Maróczy Géza Központi Sakkiskola ) in Szeged, supported by the Hungarian National Youth Institute (Hungarian Nemzeti Utánpótlás-nevelési Intézet ) and named after Géza Maróczy . Her stepfather József Herpai is a chess referee.

In December 2012 she won the Hungarian women's individual championship in Kisvárda .

In April 2010 she was awarded the title of International Women's Champion (WIM). She achieved the standards for this in November 2008 at the TENKES-Open in Harkány , in August 2009 in her third place at the Hungarian individual championship for women in Eger , where she won against Anita Gara , Nikoletta Lakos and Anna Rudolf in October 2009 at a First Saturday IM-B tournament in Budapest (also a norm for obtaining the title of women's grandmaster ) and in November 2009 when she tied for seventh place at the U16 girls' world championship in Kemer . She achieved further women's grandmaster standards in March 2011 at the 27th Open in Cappelle-la-Grande and in February 2012 in the B group of the Aeroflot Open in Moscow . The title was awarded to her in April 2012. Her best result at a youth world championship was fourth place at the U18 World Cup for girls in 2011 in Caldas Novas .

In October 2016, she was sixth in the Hungarian women's Elo ranking.

National team

Petra Papp played for Hungary between 2008 and 2011 at four U18 team European championships for women, with her best result in 2011 in Iași : When her team Hungary A placed second, she received an individual gold medal for her result of 6 points from 7 games on Top board. For the Hungarian women's national team she played in three Mitropa Cups ; 2007 in Szeged for the Hungary D team on the second board, in 2009 in Rogaška Slatina for the first Hungarian team on the top board (with an individual gold medal for their result of 4 points from 6 games) and in 2010 in Chur on the second board with third place Hungarian women's national team.
