Harkány [ ˈhɒrkaːɲ ] (German: Harkan ) is a city in southern Hungary with about 4000 inhabitants.
location
Harkány is the neighboring town of Siklós and, like this one, lies at the foot of the Villány Mountains in the south of Baranya County . The border with Croatia , which runs along the Drava , is only 7 km away. The villages of Ipacsfa, Kovácshida and Márfa are 4 to 6 km away, and in the north - directly on the mountain slope - the pilgrimage site of Máriagyűd , which belongs to Siklós. In addition to the 442 m high mountains, the surrounding area offers two streams for fishing, a few lakes and castles and the famous red wines of the Villány-Siklós wine route .
Thermal bath
Harkány has been known nationwide for more than a century and a half for its thermal baths with sulphurous water, which are particularly suitable for the treatment of joint diseases and gynecological complaints. In total there are almost 35,000 accommodation options.
Events
Festivals and classical music concerts are held regularly in the village . The work of graphic artist László Morvay is on display in the parish church courtyard , in particular his original fire-enamelled collection.
Traffic situation and larger places in the area
Harkány is located on the 58-as főút Pécs - Drávaszabolcs (Croatian border) about 25 km south of Pécs.
