location
The Pfaffenberg lies between the Neckar Valley and the Ammer Valley . Around the Pfaffenberg are the places Wendelsheim , Pfäffingen , Poltringen , Oberndorf , Wurmlingen and Unterjesingen .
Wine
The vineyard Pfaffenberg with vineyards in Entringen belongs to the area Oberer Neckar the wine-growing region Württemberg . In 1999 vintners worked 0.44 hectares in Entringen and almost 33 hectares in the Tübingen district. A 2009 black Riesling with Pinot Noir carried the bronze prize coin.
geology
Keuper formations are of geological importance on the Pfaffenberg . The Pfaffenberg testifies together with the three kilometers southwest to Heuberg that the edge of the Keuper stage is used to run even further west. Until the 1960s, reed sandstone was mined on the Pfaffenberg . Today there is the Märchensee in the former quarry , which was created by an unplanned water ingress.
Protected areas
The entire Pfaffenberg is designated as a landscape protection area (protection area number 4.16.008) by ordinance of the Tübingen regional council of 10 November 1967 with an area of 317.1 hectares . Parts of the Pfaffenberg are included in the FFH area Spitzberg, Pfaffenberg, Kochhartgraben and Neckar .
