Philip Leenders (* 1981 in Emmerich ) is a German actor .

Life

Philip Leenders, the son of the doctor , writer and local politician Artur Leenders (1954–2020), grew up in Kleve on the Lower Rhine . He attended the Johanna-Sebus-Gymnasium in Kleve, which he had to leave because of poor academic performance, and completed his school career with a secondary school certificate. He then initially trained as a bookseller at the "Buchhandlung Hintzen" in Kleve.

However, he then decided to become an actor and completed his acting training at the Salzburg Drama School from 2002 to 2006 . Various theater engagements at Austrian theaters followed, including a. at the Schauspielhaus Salzburg , at the “Summer Festival Hall”, at Werk X and at the Kosmos Theater Vienna .

During his time in Austria, from 2006 to 2011, he played the leading role of James Horrowitz, the son of the divorced couple Sarah and Gustl Horrowitz ( Elfi Eschke , Andreas Steppan ), in the ORF series topless .

In 2012 he returned to Germany, where he worked at the theater again. In 2014 he was a guest at the Junge Theater Göttingen in the production of Shakespeare's complete works (slightly shortened) . He was then engaged at the Schlosstheater Celle , where he played Stanislaus Katczinsky alongside Bastian Beyer (as Paul Bäumer), Lukas von der Lühe (as Albert Knoop) and Rasmus Max Wirth (as Tjaden) in the 2014/15 season took over nothing new in a stage version of Im Westen . He also played Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing and the defender in Ferdinand von Schirach's successful play Terror . In the 2016/17 season he took part in the world premiere of the play Die Zeitung by Andreas Döring at the Schlosstheater Celle .

In 2016 he played alongside Timon Ballenberger in the production Feet in Heaven by Michael Alexander Müller at the Lower Saxony State Theater in Wilhelmshaven . In the 2017/18 season he was seen at the Heidelberg Theater as a rooster in the children's play Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten . In the 2018/19 season he appeared as Father Flynn in the play Doubt by John Patrick Shanley at the Zimmertheater Heidelberg . At the end of 2019 he was with the comedy "Up to the horizon, then left!" In a production of the comedy in the Bayerischer Hof u. a. alongside Horst Janson , Marianne Rogée , Astrid Polak and Harald Dietl on tour in Germany.

Leenders is also active as a musician in the band "Leenders - The Band". He has lived in Memmingen for several years with his partner, who is also an actress .
