Pierściec (formerly Piestrzec, German Perstetz or Pierstetz ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality of Skoczów in the Powiat Cieszyński of the Silesian Voivodeship , Poland .

Pierściec is located in the Auschwitz Basin ( Kotlina Oświęcimska ), about 15 km west of Bielsko-Biała and 50 km south of Katowice in the powiat (district) Cieszyn.

The village has an area of ​​709 ha .

Neighboring towns are Zaborze in the north, Iłownica in the northeast, Roztropice in the east, Kowale in the southeast, the city of Skoczów in the south, Kiczyce in the west.

The village is located in the Olsa region (also Teschner Schlesien , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ).

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , under the feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia , and since 1526 it has belonged to the Habsburg Monarchy .

After the abolition of patrimonial , it formed a community in Austrian Silesia , Bielitz district and the judicial district of Skotschau from 1850 . In the years 1880–1910 the population decreased from 574 in 1880 to 539 in 1910, there were predominantly Polish speakers (between 95.1% and 98.3%), and in 1880 27 (4.7%) German speakers. In 1910, 66.8% were Roman Catholic, 31.2% Protestant, and there were 11 (2%) Jews.

In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the end of the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Pierściec came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Pierściec was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
