Kiczyce ( German Kitschitz ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Skoczów in the Powiat Cieszyński of the Silesian Voivodeship , Poland .

Kiczyce is located in the Auschwitz basin ( Kotlina Ostrawska ), on the Vistula about 18 km west of Bielsko-Biała and 50 km south of Katowice in the powiat (district) Cieszyn.

The village has an area of ​​730 hectares .

Neighboring towns are Zaborze in the north, Pierściec in the east, the city of Skoczów in the south, Ochaby and Wiślica in the west.

history

The village is located in the Olsa region (also Teschner Schlesien , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ).

The place was first mentioned in 1316 as Kytsitz . The name is patronymically derived from the first name Kika with the typical patronymic word ending -yce (as well as - (ow) ice).

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , which existed from 1290 during the period of Polish particularism . Since 1327 consisted fiefdom of the Kingdom of Bohemia and since 1526 it belonged to the Habsburg monarchy .

After the abolition of patrimonial , it formed a community in Austrian Silesia , Bielitz district and the judicial district of Skotschau from 1850 . In the years 1880–1910 the population decreased from 575 in 1880 to 499 in 1910, there were predominantly Polish speakers (between 96.9% and 100%), 1890 also 18 (3.1%) German speakers. In 1910, 73.7% were Roman Catholic, 25.7% Protestant, there were 3 Jews.

In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Kiczyce came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Kiczyce belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
