The pepper-like (Piperales) are a plant order in the informal group of Magnoliopsida . It contains five families.

They are woody or herbaceous plants . The simple leaves often have glands that secrete essential oils. The leaf blades often have a palmate vein.

The inflorescences are eternal to racemose .

The flowers of the Piperales stand out due to the lack of perianther flower organs. As a result, the developing stamens and carpels are unprotected, the calyx and corolla present in most eudicotyledons are missing in this order. The pollen grains are mostly monosulcat.
