Posseck in Bavaria (officially: Posseck i.Bay. ) Is a municipality part of the Upper Franconian market Pressig in the district of Kronach in Bavaria .

geography

The parish village Posseck is located around twelve kilometers north of the district town of Kronach in the Franconian Forest Nature Park . It developed as a historic Rundangerdorf on a ridge at around 500 meters above sea level at the intersection of the KC 3 pass road , which leads from Pressig via Posseck to Wilhelmsthal , with the KC 4 high road to Marienroth . The Franconian Marienweg runs through the village .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1180. The village, which belonged to the Bamberg Monastery, passed into the possession of the Electorate of Bavaria as a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss in 1803, together with the remaining areas of the Bamberg Monastery .

In 1862 the rural community Posseck was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Kronach . In 1871 the place had 220 inhabitants and 32 residential buildings. The Catholic Church and the Catholic Denominational School were in the parish village. In 1900, the 633 hectare rural parish had 211 residents, of whom 208 were Catholic, and 31 were residential buildings. In 1950 the community had 240 inhabitants who lived in 38 buildings. The responsible Protestant parish was in Pressig. In 1987, 184 people lived in Posseck in 42 residential buildings with 45 apartments.

In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , the Posseck community was incorporated into Pressig on January 1, 1976.

Catholic Parish Church of St. John the Baptist

St. John

The church is located at the highest point of the village, characterizing the townscape. It has the layout of a fortified church and a cemetery wall in quarry stone. The core of the church dates from the 14th century, the nave was built in the 17th century. In 1338 Posseck got its own pastor. It is a hall building with a gable roof and a choir side tower. The baroque interior of the church dates from between 1648 and 1879.
