history

On May 20, 1906 in Berlin , the cooperative Post convalescent home Berlin , founded in the on June 18, 1906 Genossenschaftsregister was entered. The aim was to build recreational facilities for Berlin post officials. The location of the recreation facility was initially still open. In addition to Templin, Lindow (Mark) and Fiddichow were also in discussion. Ultimately, the choice fell on Templin. On August 23, 1906, the cooperative bought 30 acres of forest from the city of Templin at a preferential price. The laying of the foundation stone for initially six houses then took place on August 18, 1907. Several hundred Berlin post officials traveled to Berlin on special trains for the laying of the foundation stone. In 1908 the six houses were completed. By 1914, 17 houses with a total of 188 apartments had been built. In 1938 its use as a rest home was ended. In the period after 1945, the district received an infrastructure that is customary for residential areas. In 1984, after a long construction period, the twelve-storey FDGB Friedrich Engels holiday home with swimming pool was inaugurated on the south side of the residential area . The Kuhbad bathing area , which has existed since the Postheim was founded, has been redesigned. Gravel was poured in, the reeds removed from a longer section and lawns laid out. In the period after 1990, the houses in the residential area were renovated and new buildings were erected. In August 1999 the cafe and restaurant "Am Lübbesee" opened. After 1999, five private homes were built on Heimstrasse . The construction was controversial, however, as the forest, which until then reached directly to the road, had to recede.

economy

In addition to its character as a residential area, Postheim is mainly used for tourism. There is a lido and boat rental on the lakeshore. The former FDGB holiday home is now the Ahorn Seehotel Templin with 409 rooms, the largest sports and conference hotel in the state of Brandenburg and has a corresponding gastronomy. There are also private holiday apartments. Most of the residential buildings are owned by WOBA Templin . There is a private exhibition of historical agricultural machines near the bathing area.
