Geographical location
Powodowo is located south of the Druzno (Drausensee) , 14 kilometers southwest of the former district town of Pasłęk (Prussian Holland) . history
The place, called Powunden until 1945 , was awarded in 1285 to the Sudauer Prince Kantigirde and the Sudauer Zwinniennen and their sons. In 1427 a manor was founded here. At the beginning of the 17th century, the estate was owned by the Zehmen family , and in 1623 King Sigismund III stayed here . on his way to Marienburg (Polish: Zamek w Malborku). In the middle of the 17th century the Kerssenstein family took over the property. Many changes of ownership followed.
In 1837 the estate was divided into Old and New Powunden . On May 28, 1874, both goods came to the newly formed district of Neu Dollstädt (Polish: Nowe Dolno). Until 1945 it belonged to the district of Preussisch Holland in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 Alt Powunden had 132 and Neu Powunden 133 inhabitants. On September 30, 1928, both manor villages were finally incorporated into the rural community of Neu Dollstädt.
As a result of the Second World War , Powunden came to Poland and has been called Powodowo since then. It now belongs to the Gmina Rychliki in the Elbląski powiat of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship (1975 to 1998 Elbląg Voivodeship ).
Religions
Until 1945, the predominantly Protestant population of Powundens was incorporated into the parish of Blumenau - Heiligenwalde (Kwietniewo-Święty Gaj). It belonged to the parish Prussian Holland (Pasłęk) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
Today, the place, now mainly inhabited by Catholic church members, belongs to the parish in Kwietniewo (Königlich Blumenau , 1931–1945 Königsblumenau) , but now in the deanery Dzierzgoń (Christburg) in the Diocese of Elbląg (Elbing) of the Catholic Church in Poland .
