Presberg is the northernmost and, at 410 meters, the highest district of the city of Rüdesheim am Rhein in the Rheingau-Taunus district in southern Hesse .
Geographical location
Presberg is located in the western Hintertaunus , south of the Wisper , high above its side valleys on a ridge at an altitude of about 360 to 420 m above sea level. NN in the Rhine-Taunus Nature Park . While the ridge around Presberg is a clearing area , the wider area as part of the Wispertaunus is a pure forest area. This forest area stretches from the Rhine over the hinterland forest to far into the High Taunus .
history
On January 1, 1977, the previously independent community of Presberg was incorporated into the city of Rüdesheim am Rhein. The primary school was closed in 2011.

On 23 May 1966, the community was in Presberg Rheingaukreis , Region of Wiesbaden , a coat of arms with the following Blazon awarded: split shield front in gold a black rust, back in black and a golden palm fronds.
traffic
The only access road, the state road L 3272, leads west to the Rhine in the city of Lorch and east to Stephanshausen , the northernmost district of the city of Geisenheim. Before Stephanshausen, the state road L 3454 branches off to Rüdesheim. Only the village of Stephanshausen is within 5 km. Geisenheim , Rüdesheim and Lorch can be reached at a distance of 10 km .
Personalities
- Anton Haust (* 1930 ; † 1986 ), sculptor. Haust created religious sculptures and reliefs mainly from sandstone . His works include u. a. the double shrine with St. Urban and St. Nikolaus in the Mittelheim vineyard St. Nikolaus (early 1960s), the memorial stone for Anne Frank in the Jewish cemetery in Oestrich (1970), the figure of St. Bernhard von Clairvaux in the Klosterbergkapelle in Kiedrich (1981) and the half-reliefs of the Way of the Cross in the Kreuzkapelle in Lorch (1983).
