The headquarters of Prevent BH in Sarajevo

The founder of the German group of companies, Prevent DEV GmbH, is the Bosnian businessman Nijaz Hastor, who was born on January 1, 1951 in Ustiprača near Goražde . He was a manager in the still communist Yugoslavia at the TAS automobile plant in Sarajevo , which produced VW models in what was then Yugoslavia for 20 years. Building on his connections to VW, during the civil war in Yugoslavia in 1992, he founded a network of automotive suppliers with German headquarters, Prevent DEV GmbH, who also continued to supply VW. In 1999 Prevent Bosnia-Herzegovina was established . In June 2014, Prevent outsourced the holding company "Eastern Horizon", which is now based in the Netherlands, through which shares in various companies are bought and sold. The holdings included the automotive suppliers ES Automobilguss and Car Trim . In the meantime, the company senior Nijaz Hastor has handed over the daily management of his company to his two sons Kenan Hastor and Damir Hastor.

In 2009 the group took over the Austrian-based insolvent Eybl Austria with its two locations in Gmünd and Krems an der Donau . With the establishment of Prevent Austria GmbH , the international locations of Eybl International also joined the group.

In 2010 Prevent DEV took over the Hagen-based car seat manufacturer TWB Presswerk, and at the beginning of 2015 Keiper's South America business with three locations in Brazil with around 1,000 employees.

In May 2015, the Prevent subsidiary Neofacture took over Machalke Polsterwerkstätten GmbH in Hochstadt, Franconia . In autumn 2015 Prevent took over the insolvent upholstered furniture manufacturer Gepade, and in the same year the traditional company from Delbrück was relocated to the Prevent location in Wolfsburg.

Via its Dutch holding company Eastern Horizon Group and its German subsidiary Tahoe Investors GmbH , Prevent had also been involved in kitchen manufacturer Alno since 2016 and was its largest shareholder at the time (as of mid-2017). The furniture manufacturer Wössner from Sulz am Neckar has also been part of the Prevent Group since 2016; its production was relocated to Bosnia.

In January 2018, Prevent took over the Saarland automotive supplier Halberg-Guss , which they sold again at the end of 2018 after a lengthy labor dispute.

Prevent holds a total of almost 20% in the Bavarian automotive supplier Grammer through several group subsidiaries (as of May 2018).

On September 18, 2019, the company TWB Prevent, which belongs to the group, locked its 140 employees out in Hagen without informing them about the background to this step.

Controversy

South America

The Prevent Group hit the headlines in May 2016 because Fiat-Chrysler and Volkswagen had to temporarily stop production in Brazil. The seat manufacturer Keiper , which was taken over by Eastern Horizon, had stopped delivering to them. Ford and Hyundai are also said to have been affected. Keiper's South American business is also part of the Prevent Group.

Europe

In August 2016 there were again difficulties after the takeover of the parts suppliers Car Trim and ES Automobilguss . According to information from Prevent, Volkswagen canceled orders worth EUR 500 million. As a result, the Prevent Group stopped delivery and demanded compensation. Volkswagen then obtained temporary injunctions against ES Automobilguss and Car Trim for further deliveries at the Braunschweig Regional Court. Volkswagen ultimately appeased Prevent by extending the supplier contract by six years and providing compensation for the lost order.

Business areas

The three main business areas of the Prevent Group are:

  • Seat covers for land, air and water vehicles,
  • Interior for vehicles. The seat structure and clothing sector are highlighted in this segment. Prevent is a supplier of classic ready-to-wear and casual sportswear to well-known clothing manufacturers in Europe.
  • Neofacture: production of furniture and textiles, interior design

Prevent is also active in the following areas:

  • In the service sector. The field of activity of ASA Services includes car sales, freight forwarding, car rental, but also IT, consulting and financial services.
