Prosulfuron is a chemical compound from the group of sulfonylureas . It is used as a herbicide in agriculture . Syngenta products containing the active ingredient are available in Germany.
use
Products with the active ingredient prosulfuron are used in agriculture . It is suitable for combating broad-leaved weeds in maize cultivation, as it is insensitive to prosulfuron. In contrast, the cultivated plants oilseed rape , sunflowers and Fabaceaen show a high sensitivity, so that they are not suitable for treatment with prosulfuron.
In addition, care must be taken to ensure that prosulfuron does not get into water because of its high toxicity to fish and algae.
effect
Prosulfuron one of the group of ALS - inhibitor B. It is on the leaves and roots added the weeds. After absorption, prosulfuron is transported via the vascular bundles until it reaches its destination, the meristematic tissue . Prosulfuron inhibits the enzyme acetolactate synthase, which enzymatically catalyzes chemical reactions within various metabolic pathways . The inhibition has the consequence that the amino acids valine , leucine and isoleucine can no longer be synthesized by the affected tissues. Sensitive weeds react to this with growth stoppage and then die off after they have turned red or yellow.
Admission
Prosulfuron has been approved in the EU since July 1, 2002 .
