Purbi Singhbhum ( Hindi : पूर्वी सिंहभूम जिला; English East Singhbhum district ) is a district in the Indian state of Jharkhand .
The district is located in the southeast of Jharkhand. It was created on January 16, 1990, when what was then the Singhbhum District was split up into Pashchimi Singhbhum and Purbi Singhbhum. The district administration is located in the city of Jamshedpur . The district extends over an area of 3533 km².

In the 2011 census, the population of Purbi Singhbhum was 2,293,919. Ten years earlier it was 1,982,988. The gender ratio was 949 women for 1,000 men. The literacy rate was 75.49% (83.75% for men, 66.81% for women). The largest religious group are the Hindus with 67.58%. 8.89% are Muslim .
