Dhanbad is a district in the Indian state of Jharkhand .

The area is 2040 km². The administrative seat is the city of the same name, Dhanbad .

history

The region has historically been under the influence of various empires and empires such as Magadha , the Maurya Empire , the Gupta Empire , the Mughal Empire and the British Empire .

The modern district has existed since 1956.
