The station can also be received in parts of Zollernalb , Freudenstadt , Ortenau and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald . The managing director is Gwendolin Gundlach, the program director is Klaus Winter. Program format is Oldie-Based-AC .

history

"Radio Neckarburg" officially started broadcasting on December 1, 1990. Initially, Radio Neckarburg only broadcast between 4 and 9 pm and only on a frequency with which only a few places in the greater Rottweil area could be reached. The name refers to a fictional "Neckarburg" near Rottweil, which does not exist as a place and historically never existed. However, there are ruins of the former Neckarburg castle . For some time the former Stuttgart City Radio provided a supporting program; But after this had radically changed the music program, Radio Neckarburg felt compelled to gradually expand its own program (at the end of the nineties) to 24 hours a day.

When Radio Neckarburg was awarded the frequency in Villingen-Schwenningen in 1992, competition broke out with the defeated Radio 7 ; the Tuttlingen district administrator Hans Volle described the program as an imposition. Nevertheless, Radio Neckarburg managed to increase its sales from DM 20,000 in 1991 to DM 650,000 in 1995.

With the beginning of the new licensing period in 1994, the founder and then sole owner Gerd Kieninger had to involve other shareholders in Radio Neckarburg in order to expand the program into an all-day program. However, Kieninger remained the majority owner and thus determined the program himself. At the end of April 2015, the founder Gerd Kieninger sold his shares to existing and other shareholders for reasons of age. Since then, the station has been 51 percent owned by the Schwarzwälder Bote ; The Antenne Radio GmbH & Co. KG, which, among other things, organizes the Antenne 1 program, increased its share in the course of this sale and now holds 35 percent. The remaining 14 percent continues to be held by Städt-Radio Produktions GmbH, which supplied the previous radio program from Radio Neckarburg. Transitionally, broadcasting operations were relocated to the Stuttgart press house. In spring 2016, a new studio went into operation in downtown Rottweiler.

The founder and long-time owner Gerd Kieninger died on July 21, 2016 at the age of 63.

On November 16, 2017, a few weeks after the opening of the Rottweiler test tower , the broadcaster organized the first concert on the viewing platform there in cooperation with Antenne 1 and the Schwarzwälder Boten . There the artist Gregor Meyle played for selected listeners and winners.

As a result of the program changes, the station recorded increasing numbers of listeners. For example, the media analysis Audio 2018 II reported a reach of 13,000 listeners per hour and 44,000 daily listeners.

On August 20, 2018, the station was renamed "antenne 1 Neckarburg Rock & Pop". According to their own statement, they would like to use the brand name of the mother station, Antenne 1, for themselves, to set up the programs contrary to each other and to benefit from each other even more in different areas.

music

Format until May 2015

The music broadcast was varied, as Radio Neckarburg did not follow the strict requirements of many format radios . The station specified the target group as “30+”. Current titles from the charts were just as common as oldies, hits , country , rock , folk hits and folk music . The broadcaster repeatedly gave regional artists the opportunity to present themselves. The music archive contained more than 300,000 titles, including a few rarities. Occasionally vinyl records were also played.

Format 2015–2018

In May 2015, Radio Neckarburg was relaunched and a few months later it was renamed “das neue radio neckarburg”. Schlager, country, folk and instrumental music have been removed from the program and the music format has been changed to Oldie-Based-AC, a sub-format of Adult Contemporary . The station also received a completely new on-air design. This relaunch, which had been announced for a long time, was originally not supposed to take place until 2016. The broadcaster then adopted the claim “We love the hits” and is now playing the most popular pop and rock songs from the 60s until today.

Format today

With the change of name to "antenne 1 Neckarburg Rock & Pop", the station is increasingly playing rock and pop titles from the 70s and 80s, as well as from today. The music format is still to be understood as oldies-based AC . A new on-air design was introduced as well as a new logo.

reception

The station was officially approved as a local station for the entire region by the State Office for Communication Baden-Württemberg . However, for technical and legal reasons, it can only be received to a limited extent or not at all in the Furtwangen area . The Oberndorf frequency, on the other hand, ensures that the station can still be received far into the neighboring districts to the north. In addition, reception is possible via the cable nodes in Horb, Villingen, Sigmaringen and Singen. There is also an internet stream. There is no broadcast via satellite or DAB +.

Until May 11, 2015, no RDS signal was broadcast over the FM frequencies; until July 2017 it is NECKARBG. It is currently called antenne1 NCKRBURG.
