action
The pirate Barbarossa kidnaps Alina, the daughter of the governor and fiancee of Captain Jose Salcedo, on one of his raids in the Caribbean. He falls in love with Alina, who also falls in love with him, but believes that she means nothing to him and that he is only interested in a ransom for her. On the advice of his adjutant Peg Leg, Barbarossa wants to return gold that he extorted from Salcedo to prove his love for her. Meanwhile, the pirate has helped Renzo Alina to escape, hoping to buy an amnesty for his crimes. When Peg Leg comes to Alina's tent to tell her that Barbarossa wants to send the gold back, Renzo stabs him.
When Peg Leg's body is discovered the next morning and both Alina and the gold have disappeared, Barbarossa believes that Alina murdered his aide. He sets off with his fleet to Havana , where Alina has fled, and wants to destroy the city in revenge. Renzo manages to get to Havana before the pirates, where he reveals Barbarossa's plan to attack Salcedo. Nevertheless he is killed by this one.
Salcedo plans to destroy Barbarossa's fleet anchored in a bay while the latter is attacking Havana by land. To this end, he sails his ships to the bay and leaves the city unprotected, although he knows that the pirate attack is imminent. Barbarossa takes Havana, where he meets Alina. She tells him about Renzo's betrayal, which also reveals that he killed Peg Leg. Barbarossa and his men manage to get back to the bay in time. With a ruse they can lure Salcedo's men from their ships and rob them. While they are sailing away, Salcedo is arrested for the treason he committed by leaving town.

Reviews
"Colorful pirate film according to the rules of the genre: movement, tension, a wildly romantic fairytale hero, some fighting and sympathy for the predatory corsairs."
