The Rainbach is a small mountain stream in the Gutenstein Alps in the municipality of Rohr im Gebirge in the Schneeberg region in Lower Austria.
Run and landscape
The Rainbach rises on Unterberg ( 1342 m above sea level ) below Maria Einsiedl at Unterberg-Schutzhaus , a south-facing pass ( 1178 m above sea level ) in the Piestingtal at about 1070 m above sea level. A. To the north, the valley is bounded by the low profile pre-alpine ridge Unterberg – Jochart , to the south by the ridge to the Furtnerberg ( 1090 m above sea level ).
The brook runs westwards through the Miragraben and reaches a valley widening in which the Rainbach houses extend. The Gscheidgraben from the Griesler Gcheid , a transition to the Kleinzeller Gütenbachtal north, and the Ochsengraben and Hausgraben from the Kleinzeller Fels ( 1061 m above sea level ) flow here from the right at the Gries inn .
Then the valley narrows between Furtnerberg and Sonnstein ( 1124 m above sea level ) and goes south. At the Klauswirt in the local area of Klausbach , the Rainbach joins after about 6½ kilometers at 706 m above sea level. A. from the right with the southern parallel stream Fuchsgraben (from the Haselrast ) to the Klausbach , which then in Rohr im Gebirge goes to the cell stream and then the Schwarza.
Culture and sights
The valley is very remote, but there was an old pilgrimage route to Mariazell , via Pernitz - Muggendorf, the Piestingtaler Myrabach (Mirabach, with its waterfalls ) up to the Maria Einsiedl chapel and the Rohrer Miragraben down again. The fact that the valleys or creeks have the same name on both sides of the pass is more common in the Alps.
In the upper Miragraben located in Gutensteiner lime the (Rohrer) Miralucke (also Griestalmira , land registry number 1867 /9), (these not with the a small, 5 m long cavity Pernitzer Miralucke to be confused). Other caves here - a little further down the stream - are the Wasserfallkluft and the Miragrabenhöhle , and a few more.
There are fish ponds on the lower reaches of the Klauswirt.

- ↑ So just south of the Rohrer cell stream and the Gutenstein cell stream ; known the Wipptal on both sides of the Brenner or the Tauernbach brooks on both sides of the Hohe Tauern as well as the Felbertauern . Speaks for old age.
