Rainer Böhm (composer)

Rainer Böhm (born February 23, 1952 in Berlin ; † May 21, 2013 there ) was a German composer .

Life

Böhm studied composition and conducting at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin . Afterwards he was a master class student for composition at the Academy of Arts in Berlin. In 1984 he became musical director at the Berliner Ensemble . He worked with theater directors such as Heiner Müller , Christoph Schroth , Claus Peymann and Manfred Wekwerth . He also wrote a number of pieces of music for the documentary film director Volker Koepp .
