Ralph Morgenstern (born October 3, 1956 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ; actually Ralph Morgenstern-Nolting ) is a German moderator , musician and actor .

Life

Morgenstern's parents were both musical, his great-aunt was a singer at the Cologne Opera , and the actor Harry Piel was his great-uncle. Morgenstern was enthusiastic about singing and acting at an early age, but for the sake of his parents completed training as an educator. The father's alcoholic illness temporarily overshadowed his youth.

Morgenstern moved to Cologne at the age of 20 out of love for a man . There he soon founded the band Gina X Performance , which was produced by Bernd "Zeus" Held, the keyboard player of the band Birth Control , and Martin Hömberg. With the band he released three LPs ( Nice Mover 1978, X-Traordinare 1980 and Voyeur 1982). Ralph Morgenstern has always remained loyal to the theater despite his numerous works for film and television. From 1992 to 1999 he was a permanent member of the Cologne Schauspielhaus. There he played in various productions, including in Petrol Station of the Damned (1994), Mephisto (1997), Faust (1996) and Die Banditen (Cologne Opera, 1999). Morgenstern was engaged by the Musical Comedy of the Leipzig Opera for the musical Kiss me Kate by Cole Porter from September 2006 to 2008. From 2008 to 2009 he played Edna Turnblad in the German-language premiere of the musical Hairspray at the St. Gallen Theater , Switzerland.

In 1997, moderated by him show was Kaffeeklatsch for the Rose d'Or nominated, in 2004 the program Blonde on Friday and in November 2006 he received together with Christoph Maria Herbst , the award "tip pen" in Mülheim an der Ruhr. In 2014, Morgenstern was awarded the acceptance prize at the Christopher Street Day in Duisburg, presented by the Lord Mayor of Duisburg Sören Link (SPD), for his outstanding work for diversity, understanding and acceptance of homosexual people.

From January 2011, Morgenstern and his daughter Jadwiga (born 1983) ran a café in downtown Cologne. He gave up on January 20, 2013, to devote himself more to work at the theater. Morgenstern has lived in Berlin-Charlottenburg since October 2013 .
