Ralph Biggs (born February 6, 1976 in Washington , North Carolina ) is a native American basketball player who has also had Belgian citizenship since 2005 . Biggs has played as a professional for clubs in Europe , in addition to his second home in Belgium, especially in Russia .

Career

While studying in his home country at Towson University in Maryland , Biggs was active for the Tigers basketball team, which moved from the Big South Conference to the America East Conference of the NCAA Division I in 1995. Biggs was the Tigers' top scorer for the last two years of his stint and was also named the College's Athlete of the Year in those two years. He was also invited as a participant in the 1998 Final Four of the NCAA for the Slam Dunk Contest.

After completing his studies, he first played in the Netherlands in Weert , where he was voted Most Valuable Player of the 1998/99 season in the Eredivisie . He also managed to do this in the Belgian league in 2002 after he had moved to the Belgian club from Ostend in 1999 . With the club operating under Telindus at that time , he also celebrated the Belgian championship in 2001 and 2002, of which in 2001 as a double in connection with the cup victory. In anticipation of his naturalization, he signed a contract with the Charleroi club in 2003 , when it dragged on, but was then awarded to the Liège club , with whom he won another Belgian Cup in 2004 and lost to Spirou Charleroi in the championship final. In 2004 he finally moved to the squad of the then master Spirou , who was denied another championship in the following three seasons with Biggs, instead losing both championship and cup finals in 2005. Even the naturalization of Biggs, which has now taken place, could not be used to further successes, as the finals were not even reached in the following. In 2007 Biggs finally moved from his second home in Belgium to Russia to the Urals in Perm . After finishing third in the playoffs in 2008, the two-time Russian champions from 2001 & 2002 and thus the only club that has ever finished the play-offs of the Superleague Russia since 1992 alongside PBK CSKA Moscow went bankrupt during the 2008/09 season and became signed off from gaming operations for the following season. Biggs moved within the league to Samara to Krasnye Krylja , who had succeeded the also bankrupt CSK VVS . In the Russian championship at the end of the penultimate round, however, the team reached the final of the FIBA EuroChallenge against the ultimately victorious host BG 74 Göttingen . Biggs then moved to Limoges , France , where he played for the successor club to the former European championship winner in 1993 and the club Cercle Saint-Pierre , which also went bankrupt in 2000 . In February 2011 he returned to Belgium and competed for the Giants from Antwerp , where he played with the former BBL topscorer Tim Black .
