Limoges Cercle Saint-Pierre , Limoges CSP for short , is a basketball club from Limoges, France . Founded in 1929 as Cercle Saint-Pierre de Limoges , or CSP Limoges for short , it was the most successful French club of the 1980s and 1990s and the only one to win the European Cup . CSP won this title in 1993 under the direction of the Yugoslav coach Božidar Maljković . In addition, it is one of only six clubs in Europe that have won the national championship cup , the cup winners' cup and the Korać Cup . The club plays home games in the Palais des sports de Beaublanc hall, which can hold 5516 spectators.

history

Despite a very successful sporting season, CSP 2000 had to relegate to the second French league, the LNB Pro B , due to financial problems . Although the direct resurgence succeeded, the club was finally dissolved in 2004 and re-established as Limoges CSP Elite . Instead of the original club colors yellow and red, the colors black and white were now used. The team started playing in the following season in the third French division. In 2007 it was renamed Limoges CSP again . In the 2010/11 season Limoges was again represented in the top French division for the first time. In 2011 the club colors were changed again, they have been green and white since then. After another year in Pro B, Limoges has been back in Pro A since 2012, where they won their tenth championship in the 2013/14 season .

Palais des Sports Beaublanc

The Palais des Sports Beaublanc (Bosc Blanc in Occitan ) is located in the sports park of the city of Limoges and was built in 1981. The home games of CSP Limoges, but also various sporting events such as tennis, women's basketball and handball are played in the hall. For basketball events there is space for up to 5516 spectators in the hall. Until the Palais des Sports in Pau was built in 1991, the Palais des Sports Beaublanc was the largest basketball hall in France. In 1987, the first LNB All-Star Game was played in the Palais des Sports Beaublanc . Until the opening of the Zénith de Limoges in 2007, many major concerts were also held in the hall.
