Surname

Regensburger Strasse was named after the Bavarian city of Regensburg in the Upper Palatinate .

The preserved old town of Regensburg including Stadtamhof has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2006 . It was a free imperial city and already an important center during the time of the East Franconian Empire, where diets were also held. The Perpetual Reichstag then met in Regensburg from 1663 to 1806 in the Reichssaal of the Old Town Hall .

development

School building on Nürnberger Strasse

In 1875 Findorff had 2500 inhabitants. From after 1900 a more intensive development took place in this district of Findorff. The school on Regensburger Straße was built as an elementary school until 1912 and became the Findorff secondary school in 2009/10 . In World War II, many houses were destroyed here. The first part of the street is characterized by post-war buildings.

traffic

In 1913 the connection to the Bremen tram network was established with line 9 from Hemmstraße, past Regensburger Straße to the Findorfftunnel - main station and to Sankt-Jürgen-Straße. A second connection was established in 1927 when the route to the Bürgerpark was extended through Eickedorfer Straße to Hemmstraße. Both lines were connected to a ring with lines 5 and 6 (at times 6A). The last trams in Findorff ran in 1964 (line 5) and 1967 (line 6).

In local transport in Bremen, bus line 28 (Überseestadt ↔ Neue Vahr-Nord) touches the street and lines 25 (Weidedamm-Süd ↔ Osterholz), 26 (Überseestadt ↔ Huckelriede) and 27 (Weidedamm-Nord ↔ Huckelriede) touch the street on Hemmstraße .
