Reikersdorf is a village in the Waldviertel and cadastral municipality of the Weinviertel municipality of Maissau in the Hollabrunn district . The village was founded in the early 11th century. Until December 31, 1969, Reikersdorf was an independent municipality in the Horn district . Reikersdorf has 46 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

geography

Reikersdorf is located on the northern ridge of the Manhartsberg on the eastern edge of the Waldviertel and west of Maissau, on the state road L 1238 between Gumping and the intersection of the state road L 1238 with the state road L 1244. The state road L 1238 continues straight on to the Manhartsberg.

history

The village was founded in the early 11th century.

In the tithe index the land register of the Benedictine monastery Göttweig is listed in 1297 Reikersdorf with Reychersdorf and 1311 with Reichersdorf.

Reikersdorf belonged to the Maissau rule. In 1795 Reikersdorf had 13 houses and belonged to the defense district of the laudable regiment GH Ferdinand Toskana.

In 1773 the children from Reikersdorf started school together with the children from Amelsdorf , Buttendorf and Gumping in the one-class, eight-year elementary school in Sachsendorf . In the autumn of 1824, the Reikersdorf children lost their classmates in the Gumping community because Gumping was schooled in Sachsendorf. From November 24, 1824 they attended the multi-class school in Maissau. Because the number of children in 1818, 1820 and 1823 was 66 and the classroom became too small, a new building was built.

The master blacksmith Michael Wammerl in Reikersdorf No. 2 was born on August 18, 1782 and died on May 8, 1850.

The district authorities began their work on January 16, 1850. The district Unterravelsbach (with Reikersdorf) was assigned to the district administration Horn. Today Ravelsbach is part of the Hollabrunn district administration. As a criterion for the size of a district administration, the aim was that the district administration should be reached in a few hours by horse and cart and that it should be possible to return home on the same day.

Reikersdorf was assigned to an independent municipality, the district court Unterravelsbach and the district authority Horn.

The first municipal elections in Lower Austria took place in July 1850.

In 1849 the gendarmerie was founded. The Reikersdorf Rayon with 13 houses and 53 inhabitants belonged to the post in Maissau.

Sachsendorf was connected to the power grid in 1930. It cannot be determined whether Reikersdorf was connected at the same time or a little later.

On January 1, 1970, due to financial and economic considerations, the municipalities were merged with Maissau.

This one-class, eight-year elementary school in Sachsendorf was closed in 1972.
