Oberdürnbach is a village and cadastral community of the municipality of Maissau in Lower Austria and a former municipality.

geography

The place is located below the ascent to the Waldviertel in a narrow valley of the Dürnbach and can be reached via the state road L50 .

history

The lords of Ober-Dürnbach , who belonged to the Austrian landed gentry, had their noble seat here. In the 14th century, Ullrich von Dürrenpeckh built the castle chapel, which today serves as the parish church of Oberdürnbach . The pipes of the organ were made before 1678, making them the oldest in Europe. After the reforms in 1848/1849 , Oberdürnbach was constituted as an independent municipality in 1850 and was assigned to the Ravelsbach district until 1868 . On January 1, 1970, due to financial and economic considerations, the municipalities were merged with Maissau.

Culture

In the former elementary school, which served as a residential building for the composer Gottfried von Eine , the Gottfried von One House was set up and concerts are held every year. Lotte Ingrisch donated this house to the Maissau community after the death of her husband.
