Reinhard Ludwig zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich (born September 17, 1867 in Lich ; † April 12, 1951 ibid) was a German politician , officer and member of parliament .

Life

Reinhard was the second son of Prince Hermann zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich (1838–1899) and his wife, Countess Agnes zu Stolberg-Wernigerode (1842–1904), a daughter of General Wilhelm zu Stolberg-Wernigerode . The Hessian Grand Duchess Eleonore was his sister.

He was lieutenant colonel à la suite of the royal Prussian army and from 1914 to 1915 the authorized representative of his nephew Georg Friedrich Fürst zu Solms-Braunfels in the first chamber of the estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . With the rank of lieutenant colonel, from 1915 to 1917 he held the command post of the regiment of the Gardes du Corps , a cuirassier regiment in the royal Prussian guard cavalry .

Reinhard Ludwig Prinz zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich took over the management of the house of Lich in 1920 after his predecessor, the older brother Prince Karl, died. He remained head of the house until his death; his successor was his eldest grandson, Philipp Reinhard zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich . In 1924 he made the decision to leave Hohensolms Castle to the Christian German Youth .

Marriage and offspring

He married Countess Marka Klara Rosa (1879-1965), the daughter of Count Otto Carl Constantin zu Solms-Sonnenwalde and the Countess Helene zu Solms-Baruth , on November 14, 1898 in Klitschdorf Castle , Province of Silesia . This marriage had six children:
