Reinhart Behr (born October 4, 1928 in Hamburg , † December 15, 2003 in Ulbølle , Denmark ) was a German teacher , mathematician , physicist , politician and author .

Life

Reinhart Behr lived in Berlin from 1930 to 1988 . He completed his high school at the Schadow-Gymnasium in Zehlendorf and studied at the Humboldt University and later at the Free University of Berlin , the subjects Mathematics and Physics . In 1953 he passed the first state examination and first taught for a year at the Goethe High School in Lichterfelde and then at the Beethoven High School in Lankwitz , where he worked as head of the mathematics department until he retired in 1988. He then moved with his wife to Egebjerg Municipality on the island of Funen in Denmark.

Act

In 1953 Reinhart Behr joined the education and science union . He campaigned with democratic means against what he saw as unjustified professional bans , and was committed to the peace movement and against fascism . Shortly before his death, he was honored for 50 years of membership in the Education and Science Union.

In the 1970s, Reinhart Behr worked on the development of curricula and teaching materials for the vocational upper school centers that were emerging in Berlin at the time.

Reinhart Behr was already politically active during his teaching activity. As a member of the Alternative List, he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives for two years during the second half of the 9th electoral term from June 1983 .

Behr has written several popular science books and essays on mathematics and astronomy in his retirement. He was a member of the Ernst Bloch Society .
