Reinhold Kietz

Reinhold Kietz (born February 11, 1927 in Barleben , Wolmirstedt district , Province of Saxony , † December 30, 1994 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) was a German politician ( SED ).

Life

After attending elementary school, the son of a butcher and a farm worker completed an apprenticeship as a foundryman in a Magdeburg iron foundry. From March 1944 to May 1945 he had to do military service in the Wehrmacht .

After the war he worked from May 1945 to March 1950 as a moulder and caster in Magdeburg. In September 1946 he became a member of the SED. From April to December 1950 he was an employee in the Ministry of the Interior and from January 1951 in the Ministry of Finance of Saxony-Anhalt . After attending a training course for teachers in 1951 at the GDR administration school in Weimar, he became a teacher at the Saxony-Anhalt State Administration School in Halberstadt, then headmaster of the Gransee Administration School. In November 1953 he moved to the party apparatus and was an instructor in the agitation and propaganda department of the SED district leadership in Potsdam until December 1959. He completed a distance learning from 1955 to 1966 at the party college "Karl Marx" with a degree in social science. From January to June 1960 he was sector leader, from July 1960 to March 1963 secretary for science, popular education and culture of the SED district leadership in Potsdam. From April 1963 to May 1964 he was first secretary of the SED district leadership in Nauen and from June 1964 to October 1965 the first deputy mayor of the independent city of Brandenburg (Havel) . He then succeeded Max Herms as Lord Mayor of Brandenburg from November 1965 to February 1976 . On February 14, 1976, Kietz was elected first secretary of the SED district leadership in Brandenburg and then left the office of mayor on February 16, 1976. In 1988 he was replaced in this position by Winfried Mitzlaff.

Kietz last lived as a disability pensioner in Brandenburg, was a member of the PDS and died at the age of 67.
